CREATION
Whether through the creation of speculative, process-based prototypes or by curating a group exhibition, my artistic practice explores how fashion can serve as a transformative practice. It centers themes of unbecoming, fragmentation, and reconstruction inviting reflection on patriarchy, capitalism, ecological degradation, and other systems of oppression.
My practice and process, and thus the prototypes I create, often evolve on my own body as well as those others and provide a means to reflect on personal and/or social processes and how those systems have agency upon our bodies, identities, actions, and environment. My practice is deeply collaborative. Working with others to create experiences that bridge fields such as contemporary dance, textile-making, music, curation, and photography has been fundamental to my growth as both a person and an artist, and to my understanding of the ever-evolving contemporary world.
Qu’il s’agisse de la création de prototypes spéculatifs et processuels ou de la curation d’expositions collectives, ma pratique artistique explore la manière dont la mode peut devenir une pratique transformatrice. Elle s’articule autour des thèmes du désapprentissage, de la fragmentation et de la reconstruction, invitant à une réflexion sur le patriarcat, le capitalisme, la dégradation écologique et d’autres systèmes d’oppression.
Ma pratique — et donc les prototypes que je crée — évoluent souvent à même mon propre corps ainsi que ceux des autres, offrant un moyen de réfléchir sur les procesus personnels et/ou sociaux et à la manière dont ces systèmes exercent une influence sur nos corps, nos identités, nos actions et notre environnement. Ma pratique est profondément collaborative. Travailler avec d’autres aritstes pour créer des expériences reliant des domaines tels que la danse contemporaine, le travail textile, la musique, la curation et la photographie a été essentiel à mon développement personnel et artistique, ainsi qu’à ma compréhension du monde contemporain en constante évolution.

Children of Chemistry draws inspiration from the masculine and feminine standards conveyed through the media and popular culture. With humor and sarcasm, the choreographer, Sebastien Provencher, plays with gender codes to highlight the absurdities that lead us to conceive of our society in binary terms.
