Le Vaisseau-Coeur

Initiated by Ballet Opéra Pantomime, the Vaisseau-cœur transposes the contrasting worlds of two landmark works of 20th-century choral music: Francis Poulenc’s Litanies à la Vierge noire—medieval and hieratic—and Olivier Messiaen’s Trois Petites Liturgies de la Présence Divine—abstract, surreal, and colorful. The program is completed by an original creation by composer Alexis Raynault.

Bathing the architecture and stained glass of this former church converted into a concert hall, light shapes Salle Bourgie into a jewel-like setting in which the young choir performers move. Emerging from the group, four solo dancers animate the ensemble’s movements.
