ⅩⅥ.

aikido — Undergraduate Fashion Collection

This creative fashion collection echoes the Aral Sea ecological disaster through reference to photographs taken by Nicolas Descottes. Using methods of critical design and sustainable thinking, the fashion project embodies the form of the disaster itself and has been developed as a way to bring awareness to the impacts of the fashion industry, textile production and its effect on the environment. A handmade waxed technique was developed and a collaboration with textile artist (knit fabric), Alexandre Boivin.
