This experimental video serves as a research project at the intersection of fashion design and performance, documenting processes of fragmentation and reconstruction. It critically engages with Elizabeth Grosz’s concept of the “unbecoming-woman” to examine the societal and oppressive forces that shape the female body. Through the upcycling of materials, fashion prototypes are created directly on the researcher’s body, while creative writing and film techniques are utilized to distort and deconstruct bodily representation, evoking themes of protection, pain, and trauma.
Presented at the Responsible Fashion Series Conference “Can Fashion Save The World?”, held at the University of Antwerp, Belgium.
Presented as part of the Design Research Exhibit by Lignes de Fuite at WIP Gallery, in Montreal.
